Research Interests

My research interest is pain mitigation for routine management practices in beef cattle.  Currently I am comparing pain mitigation strategies for yearling beef heifers undergoing ovariotomy via colpotomy.  This spay procedure is used in extensive grazing situations for pregnancy prevention in heifers that are not destined to become part of the breeding herd. The ultimate result is better animal welfare for these heifers when they reach the feeding period and do not experience pregnancy related complications.
