Bio Summary

Juan Camilo Parra Aguirre is from Manizales-Colombia. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Caldas (ManizalesCaldasColombia) where he completed his degree in the university's Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (veterinary medicine and zootechnics).

After graduation, Dr. Parra spent some time working as independent in his country and in the United States. At the University of Saskatchewan, his research focuses on combatting the repercussions caused by swine dysentery.

Research Area(s)

Mucohaemorrhagic diarrhea caused by Brachyspira hyodysenteriae is a severe, production-limiting disease of swine. This research will involve animal and laboratory work related to the control of swine dysentery. The overall objective is to develop a vaccine for swine dysentery associated with Brachyspira hampsonii.
