Take a Horse Health Tour!

Curious about how veterinarians identify a lameness problem or a reproductive issue in a horse? Want to learn more about the tools that equine specialists use to diagnose and treat lameness, colic, infectious diseases and more? 

Join us for a morning tour of the range of horse health resources available at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine’s Veterinary Medical Centre — the veterinary referral centre for all of Western Canada. 

  • Time: 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The event includes: 

  • Take a tour: Check out the resources in the WCVM’s Ryan/Dubé Equine Performance Centre, then take a walk through the WCVM Large Animal Clinic and visit our new Rae-Dawn Arabians Equine ICU and Foal Centre.
  • Help diagnose a lame horse: WCVM clinicians will demonstrate the steps involved in diagnosing a lame horse and the types of diagnostic tools they use to help pinpoint the problem. 
  • Take a coffee break with our horse health team:Members of the WCVM horse health team will give short updates about their research projects targeting common health problems in horses. 

The WCVM Horse Health Tour and transportation to the veterinary college is free for anyone attending the 2019 Saskatchewan Equine Expo. Park your vehicle at Saskatoon’s Prairieland Park and hop on a shuttle bus to the U of S campus! The bus will return to Prairieland Park at 11:30 a.m.
