VETERINARIAN

Reporting to the Fish Health and Food Safety Director, the Veterinarian for Mowi Canada West is responsible for monitoring, diagnosis and treatment of freshwater and saltwater production fish. The Veterinarian will work with the fish health team to manage and coordinate all aspects of fish health and welfare and regulatory compliance. This position is based out of Campbell River on beautiful Vancouver Island and offers an amazing work environment with a tight-knit supportive team who are passionate about maintaining the company's high standards of fish health management and environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Biosecurity in all areas of Production and Operations
  • Fish health management and treatment planning
  • Developing strategies for disease and parasite management and avoidance
  • Analysis of fish health and production data
  • Ensure Mowi remains compliant with all Fish Health regulatory requirements
  • Ensure Mowi is able to meet third party certification Fish Health requirements
  • Ensure timely submission of fish health reports (regulatory, internal, external)

Requirements:

Applicants must have the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited program which allows licensing in British Columbia. Previous experience in salmon aquaculture is preferred but not required.
