Awards and Scholarships

The University of Saskatchewan (USask) has numerous awards, scholarships and bursaries to help fund your graduate education. Funding is made available from a variety of sources, including the Government of Canada, the Government of Saskatchewan and the generosity of our many donors.

Application submission for WCVM awards are completed online through surveymonkey, each award listed has a link for submitting your application.  In order to be eligible for WCVM awards Graduate Students must be:

  1. Enrolled in a recognized graduate program with the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at the time the award is granted;
  2. A graduate student in good standing of a department within the WCVM; and
  3. Supervised or co-supervised by a member of the WCVM faculty (not an adjunct member).

The WCVM has numerous awards, scholarships and bursaries to help fund your graduate education.  The following awards have an application deadline of April 1st.  The application portal will open in January.

Dennis Shute Memorial Award $1,000 Applicants must have  interest in Small Animal medicine, especially dogs and cats and written an article acceptable for publication. Dennis Shute Award Closed

Dr. Ted Clark Award in Diagnostic Pathology

To recognize a student who has demonstrated an interest and proficiency in diagnostic pathology during their first year of graduate studies at the WCVM.

International impact $2000 To recognize a student who has achieved international recognition for their research, or conducted impactful research at an international site with international collaborators, or had a strong collaboration with an international researcher/student who visited this university. To recognize graduate students for excellence in community-engaged research.

Non-Clinical Teaching $2000 To recognize excellence in instruction, focused on non-clinical teaching in a classroom or laboratory setting, but with contributions from mentoring, or other comparable non-clinical instructional activities. Non Clinical Teaching Award Closed

One Health Graduate Student Award $1,500

The award celebrates graduate students' research and promotion of One Health, which is defined as collaborative efforts to mitigate risks and maximize benefits at the animal-human-environment interface.

  • two-page CV highlighting relevant activities
  • one-page description of how their research and promotion activities are relevant to One Health
