Ambulatory preventative and emergency services to a large progressive dairy industry as well as a variety of equine, beef, small ruminant, porcine, fur animal, poultry and wildlife. Duties also include consultation on food safety (milk and meat quality), animal welfare, monitoring/surveillance of diseases of zoonotic & public health concern.

Your daily routine will never be boring as our clientele encompasses a wide range of agricultural producers and the odd moose or polar bear. The Provincial Agriculture Building is home to a Large Animal Veterinary Pharmacy, an ISO accredited Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory & Provincial Veterinary Pathology Service. At full staffing we are a four-veterinarian field ambulatory practice. Ambulatory vehicles provided are 2500 series trucks with Bowie or Damaris units. Vets are supported by two Animal Health Technologists and a Pharmacy Technician.

Requirements: Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine & eligibility for veterinary licensure in Newfoundland and Labrador. Understanding of agricultural production systems and preventative and emergency care of large animals. Comfort and proficiency in safe handling of large animals.
