Profile

Dr. Olamide Adebiyi holds DVM and PhD degrees from the University of Ibadan in Ibadan, Nigeria. As a visiting Fulbright Fellow at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine, she investigated the role of adenosine receptor subtypes in regulating the differentiation, migration and maturation of oligodendrocytes in models of multiple sclerosis under Dr Margaret Bynoe.

Dr. Adebiyi also explored how neuronal activity modulates the differentiation and migration of oligodendrocyte precursor cells following demyelination as a BrainsCAN Tier I Postdoctoral Associate at Western University's Translational Cognitive Neuroscience Lab in London, Ont., under Drs. Tim Bussey, Lisa Saskida and Ravi Menon.

Before venturing into neuroscience research, Dr. Adebiyi practised as a veterinary clinician of small and companion animals. She is a member of the Early Career Committee of the International Brain Research Organization, an affiliate of the African Academy of Sciences amongst others. Dr. Adebiyi is passionate about expanding research interest in neuroscience for deserving and underrepresented groups.

Outside the lab, she enjoys hiking, sightseeing and travelling.
