Bio Summary
Catherine Beaupre is from Brandon, Man. After graduating high school, she attended Brandon University where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree (biology) with minors in chemistry and psychology.
Catherine spent several years working in the veterinary industry and volunteering at the Brandon Humane Society before completing her undergraduate degree. Catherine was accepted into the WCVM in 2019. During her veterinary program, Catherine found her love of community outreach and engagement.
After graduating from the WCVM in 2023, Catherine began her MSc program in fall 2023. Her research focuses on "Zooeyia" (the positive benefits to human health from interacting with animals) and the human-animal bond. When she isn't working, Catherine enjoys spending time with her dog Cedar, experiencing lake life in the summer, paddleboarding, reading and watching "Survivor" episodes.
Research Area(s)
Dr. Beaupre’s research focuses on understanding the complexity of pet ownership for older adults aging in place. She hopes to support the human-animal bond by understanding the role that pets play in preventing loneliness when older adults are socially isolated.
