Bio Summary
Dr. Carolina Emparanza is from Chile. After graduating she has worked at a thoroughbred breeding farm, servied as a veterinary officer in the Chilean Army and completed a year-long fellowship in Equine Internal Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky.
She began a combined MSc-Residency program in Theriogenology (Equine) at the WCVM in 2025. Her research focuses on thyroid health in mares and foals as it related to fetal programming.
Research Area(s)
Effect of Nitrates and Glucosinolates on Iodine Levels in Horses. The overall research goal is to improve our understanding of how mare nutrition impacts fetal health and development.
