Bio Summary

Dr. Del Pilar holds a BSc in Animal Husbandry and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Philippines, where she is also a licensed veterinarian. Her career is focused on swine medicine, building on clinical experience from the Philippines and now developing her expertise in a Canadian production context.

She is currently a swine medicine resident and MSc student in the SMART Program for Foreign-Trained Veterinarians, supervised by Dr. John Harding.

Research Area(s)

Dr. Del Pilar's research project aims to identify and assess swine health critical control points to reduce stage-specific mortality across the sow barn, nursery and finisher on farms throughout Western Canada.

Ultimately, the goal is to translate these findings into practical, evidence-based recommendations that producers and veterinarians can apply on farm to improve herd health, welfare and productivity.
