Residency position in anesthesia and analgesia

Start date: July 15, 2025

Description

The Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences is offering a residency position in veterinary anesthesia and analgesia.

This position is a standard American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA)-approved, three-year clinical residency combined with a Master of Science degree based on coursework and a research project. Candidates must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent degree. As well, they must have completed a one-year internship or have had general practice experience acceptable to the anesthesiology faculty.

The WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC) has recently been renovated with new equipment. We operate a 24/7 intensive care unit (ICU) for small animal patients that is staffed with registered veterinary technologists. The VMC also provides anesthesia services to the hospital’s exotic pets and large animal sections and our team members are involved with immobilization services for the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo.

Residents will be enrolled in the University of Saskatchewan (USask) College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (CGPS). As such, they must meet the university’s requirements for entry and are responsible for the associated application and tuition fees. Visit the CGPS website for more details.
