Profile

George Thelwell was born in the United Kingdom. After graduating from high school, he attended the Royal Veterinary College, University of London, where he completed his degree in veterinary medicine. Following graduation, George completed a small animal rotating internship at VCA Canada Western Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Centre in partnership with the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

At the University of Saskatchewan's Western College of Veterinary Medicine, George continues to develop his knowledge and practical skills in veterinary ophthalmology with the goal of achieving board certification with the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO).

George is interested in all areas of veterinary ophthalmology and ophthalmic research. In June 2024, he presented a case report on cataract surgery in a red-footed tortoise at the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ECVO) annual conference in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
