Research Interests

Molecular Virology:  Some of the highly pathogenic betacoronaviruses show differences in their pathogenic potential. Accessory proteins encoded by these viruses are known to inhibit cellular antiviral responses and contribute directly to disease pathogenesis. However, viral genomic factors that drive the expression of viral proteins remain less studied. Therefore, the aim of my project is to discover and characterize the molecular determinants of coronavirus infection-mediated disease pathogenesis in spill over and wildlife reservoir host species.
