Research Interests

Area of Study:  Zoonotic viruses and Comparative Immunology

The broad objective of my project is to explore the evolution of virus-host interactions in bats. Bats represent a considerable portion of all mammals and though they perform essential ecological roles, they have recently been identified to harbor several emerging viruses that cause significant disease in humans and animals. However, infected bats do not show clinical sings of disease. Therefore, the aim of my project is to assess if bats have evolved an enhanced innate immune response to better control viral infection.
