Role

Champika Fernando manages access to the WCVM's molecular microbiology laboratory, which is a resource for members of the WCVM community to use for molecular work. Champika also manages shared equipment in the WestGen lab.

She can teach researchers and graduate students to use molecular biology and microbiology equipment for techniques such as DNA or RNA isolation, quantification, quality assessment, qPCR, cloning, and bacterial culture and isolation.

Champika can consult with researchers before they begin their research projects to assist with planning and experimental design. She also manages the WCVM's liquid nitrogen supply.
