ORC offers now multiple methylation sequencing workflows for its customers.

Methylation Sequencing is an NGS technique for high-throughput profiling of DNA methylation at a single-nucleotide resolution across the genome. ORC offers three different Methylation Sequencing services: Em-Seq, 5-Base, and RREMS.

Enzymatic methyl-Seq (Em-Seq) in which unmethylated C are converted to T is a high-performance enzyme-based and cost-effective alternative to bisulfite conversion for the identification of 5mC and 5hmC. Em-Seq datasets provide accurate, base-resolution methylome profiling. Follow the link HERE to learn more about Em-Seq.

We offer 5-Base sequencing is a premium option in which modified bases, 5-methylcytosine (5mC) and optionally 5-Hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) are detected in addition to the four standard bases (adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine). In 5-Base datasets only the 5mC (5hmC) are converted to T and therefore can be used for both methylation analysis and complementary WGS-style variant analysis. You can read more about 5-base sequencing HERE.

Reduced Representation Enzymatic Methyl-Seq (RREMS) is ORC’s cost-effective CpG-enriched methylome profiling method and ideal for scientists who want to screen genome-wide DNA methylation information in large-scale studies or use epigenetic age prediction tools. ORC’s RREMS method is an improvement of the classic RRBS method outlined HERE.

The Omics Resource Centre (ORC) has installed the new AVITI24 sequencer from Element Biosciences, expanding its high-performance Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) services.

The new AVITI24 platform is increasing sequencing capacity by 50% and supports integrated single-cell multiomics workflows—combining RNA, protein and cell morphology profiling in a single assay.

ORC’s new services will be operating by the end of 2026. Researchers who are interested in exploring potential applications, pilot projects or future study design can book a consultation with ORC lab manager Dr. Martin Mau. Visit the ORC website for more details.
