    • to avoid: always start with needle holders on incision

Basic steps to a granny knot

position model so incision is vertical and yellow strand is to left of the incision

first throw

  • needle holders placed on incision
  • wrap needle holders around yellow strand
  • grasp end of blue strand
  • pull blue strand to left 
    pull yellow strand to right

second throw

  • needle holder to right of yellow strand
  • wrap needle holders around yellow strand
  • grasp end of blue strand
  • pull blue strand to right
          yellow strand to left
